AFS Storage Space

If you have a Campus Computing ID (CCID), you have access to 24 GB of disk space on the University's AFS campus file service.

AFS, the Andrew File System, is a distributed file system based on client/server technology. Several implementations exist, the dominant one being OpenAFS.

You can use your AFS Storage Space to store files and web pages that can then be accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection. The AICT managed computer labs are all set up so that your AFS space is accessible once you have authenticated using your CCID. Transferring files to and from your AFS Storage Space must be done using an SCP (Secure Copy Protocol) client or SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) client, as these protocols do not put your Campus Computing ID password at risk.

The use of a Computing account is bound by the AICT Conditions of Use. Please refer to the AICT Security pages for information on acceptable use practices and other computer security issues.
